Welcome and thank you for visiting the web page for the Social Science department.  We offer a variety of courses not only to meet the California graduation requirements, but to enrich our students education experience and understanding of human culture and human history.

All students in California are required to complete three years of coursework in the history/social sciences field.  Students at DPJCMHS choose from the following list of courses:

• World History or AP World History
• United States History or AP United States History
• Principles of American Democracy (Gov't) or AP Government
• Economics

In addition to the above course offerings, DPJCMHS students have the option of enrolling in the Los Angeles Virtual Academy (LAVA).  Through LAVA, students have many options in the history/social science field, including but not limited to AP Psychology, AP Sociology, AP Macroeconomics, and AP Microeconomics.
