DPMHS Accepts $15,000 Donation
On January 9th, 2012 Charles Evans donated $15,000 to Daniel Pearl Magnet High School to support our Journalism programs. Mr. Evans is the director of the documentary "Addiction Incorporated", about the tobacco industry, their cover-up of scientific evidence, and the man who blew the whistle on them, Victor DeNoble.
Mr. Evans, Mr. DeNoble, and Myron Levin (a reporter formerly with the Los Angeles Times) were on campus for a showing of the documentary followed by a panel discussion with students. They also stayed for a round table discussion at lunch with the student staff of The Pearl Post.
This story has been picked up by several media outlets throughout the Southland (like the LA Times, 89.3 KPCC, and Fishbowl LA). Click here for the press release from LAUSD.
